Looking through the Peephole: "In Christ Alone"
Looking through the Peephole: "In Christ Alone": This song really ministered to me today on my train ride to school. Christ is really everything to me. I saw the picture of Christ, my per...
"In Christ Alone"
That love is so strong after two thousand years its so real. I thought what could I do to return that love besides singing my heart out internally with all my might as I pressed repeat on my Ipod? I can love instead of hate. I can be a cool Color and reflect His light instead of casting dark shadows of gloom. It seems simple but everyone who is alive knows it is not. I can love more and try just try to love like precious Christ. To give more and care more ( to the poor, the unwanted, the forgotten, those that no one would want to watch on reality TV) I love that verse "For I am His and He is mine -Bought with the precious blood of Christ" and "From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny." I have an awesome relationship with my Lord and Savior but I want more and so does He. Like any loving relationship we are ready to take it to the next level. He wants to see Himself in me and I do not want to disappoint the One that gives me joy. It gives me satisfaction and peace to know He will never throw me away when I get old but He will call me home with open arms. So I sing this song in worship, on the train, in the shower, with my sister, with my cousin, with my mother, as I walk my dog and on every dark corner and long hallway I have yet to journey. He is pleased with me. He loves how I worship and how I love Him and right now that's all that matters. Worship your crucified Christ, remember Him as you take communion, remember His death, celebrate His resurrection not just on "Easter Sunday" but every waking moment. His blood is still alive and still powerful. Walk with Him for your life is in His beautiful unchangeable hands. Remember He cradled you before you were born. Worship Glorified Christ because He is coming back for You and me with Victory, Passion and romance that can't be found in a Twilight novel. This is True Love, whew! I feel the butterflies I only thought a man can make me feel. I was wrong, Christ Alone. So I CHALLENGE you to download this song and listen and sing out the lyrics. They have the power to be life changing.
He is my light, my strength, my song; this Cornerstone, this solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when striving cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath. Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand. |

Take Comfort in being Uncomfortable.........
I tell you one thing that I loathe. LOathe. Being uncomfortable. You know when you feel out of place, like everyone is looking at you. Like when you're a novice at something surrounded by a bunch of experts. I feel awkward, clumsy, like a doofus. I rather not be uncomfortable but for a very peculiar reason I find myself having that cold sweat feeling very often. Actually most of the things I do/try makes me feel like I'm walking on a tightrope from one skyscraper to the next with everyone in the Empire State watching from below. "Wondering what the heck is she doing... saying what the heck was she Thinking! She doesn't belong there. She shouldn't be doing that? That doesn't work. It wont work". You get my drift.
Sure I have thought and said the same things. What are you doing taking accelerated classes in elementary education. You know teaching is one of the hardest jobs on the planet! Are you nuts!
What are you doing skydiving black girls are not that adventurous.
Jumping underneath a waterfall like a nutcase in St. Lucia as the other tourist stop and stare. Just me and the natives.
You run in the grass with your bare feet? Where do you think you are Mississippi? You are a New Yorker! We don't do that!
Why is she so extra where does she think she is on Broadway?
(said by an actual classmate in high school)
Sure you don't have to tell me. I am weird. I have always been. I will always be. But My weird and out of the ordinary demeanor has allowed me to hear God's voice loud and clear. When God speaks it is out of the ordinary, in fact quite extraordinary. (suddenly I'm Dr. Seuss)
He is my coach. He pumps me up for the big game of life, when I feel like cowering in the locker room, He tells me, "Go on. I made you this way. What do you have to fear, people, events, trials, failure? I'm bigger than all those things."
He tells me shine your light! Don't hide it under a blanket. Don't just shine it in one place but in many places. Don't just shine it with people who look like you but shine it so many different people will see and be fearless and uninhibited just like you. In Matthew 14-16 Jesus explains it best, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see."
He says, "I lit you so the world can see and be better for it." When we hide we don't make the world better we keep it the same.
He has opened doors flooded with opportunity. Is it going to be easy? No. But don't run away from a blessing just because you're uncomfortable. Get out of your shell and receive All of what God has in store for you and sometimes that may mean being a little hesitant a little UNCOmForTable...

8, 9, 10! Ready or not Here I Come!
I am twenty five years old. A quarter of a century old. Time is like a bullet train. You don't see how much you've grown until you are able to look back on your life.
I was able to see myself as a four year old little girl on a old tape my mom and I were watching. I saw my family twenty one years ago. My boy cousins, my mom in her twenties, my aunt Kim playing super mom, my dad and gramps and my gorgeous hilarious Aunt Tash just starting her life, barely twenty. I watched my four year old body squabble with my cousins, play cops and robbers, pick at food and dance like MC Hammer with my Michael Jackson hat that stayed on my head ALL night! I watched me twenty one years ago...and its funny, surprisingly I haven't changed that much. I look at those eyes and they have not changed. 'Thinking eyes', my dad calls them. I still like to pick at my food, squabble with my cousins from time to time, and dance like the energizer bunny on a red bull diet, in the privacy of my room of course. I am still a drama queen and I'm still a tomboy. The only real difference is my deep admiration and overwhelming awe for the adults that I watched all my life. Now that I am an adult as well I can understand their sacrifices, their strife, disappointments and their huge commitment to us, their children. They did a phenomenal job.I am twenty five years old now but the little girl inside is still there peeking through. I pray that I never grow too wise, too old for her. She helps me see life as an adventure, she reminds me that I'm still young, energetic and have soo much to discover in this big wide world. She never lets me let go of that long list of dreams...
I pray I never ignore her, I pray I never mistreat her, I pray I never let her disappear, I need her around to keep me grounded and respectful to my elders that came before me. I need her to make me laugh. I need her to be silly when I'm too serious. I need her to believe when I'm cynical. I need her to take a gigantic leap of faith when I'm too afraid to move.
So I made a promise that I will keep her around till the end, so that even death will be a fascinating discovery, because there is no fear in death when you know you are just going to get back up again.
Much love to all the children out there that are allowed to be children and the children at heart. MUAH!

The Ecstasy of Being Alone
Sure. No one likes to be alone. No one to talk to, no one to listen to the stories you want to share. I'm sure you love to hang out and socialize. Trust me I do too. I am a very outgoing person and I love to plan trips and events wayyy in advance! You can ask my family and close friends, I plan my next birthday a day after the current one. I love people and I love meeting new people. But like you I have those days were people are not what I need. Even when my body is telling me go out and do something with someone! Call someone! Text them, facebook a friend something! You need to live and have fun. You're young and single..this ranting inside my head can go on and on but I have to press the mute button. Instead I listen to the other voice that says spend time with me. Its OK to be alone sometimes. That is when you really learn more about this person (point to chest) and that big God that wants to spend time with you Alone. Whenever you are alone you wish to God you wasn't. But have you thought about the sweet benefits?
When you are alone you can organize your life!
Kudos to the person that can hold a conversation and manage their finances at the same time. But most of us fall off in that department.
Solitude allows us to reorganize our houses, whether its spending a Saturday cleaning and decorating your home or office. I don't always feel good about getting started but when the job is done and everything is all spic and span I got the workout and the dust bunnies out. I can literally crash on the kitchen floor. When your surroundings are neat and organized your thinking follows suit.
When you are alone you can spend time with God.
Corporate worship is great but nothing beats spending alone time with God. This is when he will speak to you the most because you decided to stop and place him over your busy schedule. You please God and you are blessed as well.
When you are alone you can write in your journal.
Writing is therapeutic. Blabbing to your diary is less narcissistic than blabbing to the people that live with you. It helps getting the frustration down on paper and out of your system then in someone else's ear let's face it
after awhile they want to smack you away like a pesty mosquito. But they smile and be polite instead. So it doesn't hurt to write it down.
When you are alone you can create personal goals.
This goes along with organization. You know more than anyone what you want out of life. You can write
questions like where do i see myself in five years? ten years? twenty years? and so on. Through faith and ambition you can check those goals off your list in no time!
When you are alone you can better your relationship with yourself.
How can we get to know more about our self that is what we need to change, where we need to grow and where we are successful if we don't talk to ourselves. Yes if you start making this a habit in public the psychiatric van will do a speedy pickup your way. Sometimes in private we need to shut the television off, the phone off, and all lines of communication so we can better understand this person, this body, this soul God has given us a little more.
Visit the spa alone ( Spa castle is recommended), take a walk in the park and find a quiet secluded spot ( not too secluded) , or just plan a ME day (shopping spree, beauty day)
Learn to appreciate every part of you...
When you are alone you can go to the movies/ theater.
Just try it. The bravest people do it.
When you are alone you can read.
When you are alone you can study.
For all the students of the world ( all of us) whether you are in school or not we all can study. Whatever the
interest this would be a perfect time to brush up on the fundamentals so we have something cool to add at the coffee table or carpool.
When you are alone you can develop a new hobby.
Did you ever want to join a gym but none of your friends were willing to do it with you? Now is the time. How about running a Marathon? .. Train and go for it. Swimming, rock climbing, oil painting. Don't wait for a friend,do it alone. Think of all the new and exciting people you might meet and the skills you will accumulate.
When you are alone you can treat yourself.
It is always fabulous when a date picks up the tab. But you also have a independent and spontaneous side, If you always wanted to try that seafood restaurant or cupcake shop take your wallet and gadgets and go! You are adventurous and totally cool. Trust me no one is going to laugh. You will inspire.
When you are alone you can escape.
Daydream of a different world. Fantasize, dream and dream big. The world is your oyster, nothing can hold you back. Think beyond your four walls and imagine a palace within reach. No one will be there to tell you stop dreaming.
When you are alone you can be silent.
Give your vocal chords a break. Sometimes its nice to just be quiet!
When you are alone you can in take in the beauty of nature.
Nature is all around, even if you live in the big city like yours truly. Go to the docks and watch the ships and tiny boats sail by. Take your dog on a long walk ( if you have one, if not rent one for the day. jk) Check out the squirrels and birds ( not pigeons) don't they look happy and satisfied? Look at the sky during sunset/sunrise, tranquil beauty. Look at the moon. ( a big light surrounded by darkness what a inspiration) Be an observer of life.
When you are alone you can catwalk the concrete.
For pedestrians, everyone has their own stride espeacially when alone.
Whatever style your walk carries no one can tell you your not flying solo and fabulous.
Go for a drive.
Have wheels and want to get away from it all? Shut up and drive.
When you are alone you can get loose!
Dance like your on America's Got Talent. Attempt to sing like Beyonce' in the shower.
Streak around the apartment. Act a fool. Now is the time to laugh at yourself . No one will find out. You hope.
When you are alone you can explore the world.
Dora the Explorer did it so can you. Get a passport and travel the seven seas. If a first or second mate wants to come along the more the merrier if they flop don't let that stop you, grow some sea legs and get over it. Life on this earth is too short. ( check out boldygosolo.com)
When you are alone you can watch and listen to the people around you.
Aren't they hilariously entertaining? Just don't butt in that's nosy.
When you are alone you can love better....
The purpose of being alone is not to be a recluse or a socially challenged hermit it is to
make us socially well. If we never have time for ourselves and we never have time to spend with God alone we don't know how to help others because we are always around people, always chatting away....
W never stop and take a time out.
If we never have time alone we must ask ourselves is it because I am afraid to be alone? Do I need people around every waking moment because then
I want to know.............

When you are alone you can better your relationships with others.
This sounds weird, but when you find time for yourself you can become a better friend. When you are at peace with yourself and stand alone, you become a better listener, a peacemaker, a trusted advisor for the stressed out panicky, competitive world we live in. We need people we can learn from, people who are calm, cool, collected. People who know how to step back from the choas, pause and discern. When you are alone you can go to the movies/ theater.

When you are alone you can read.
Knowledge is an open door, take advantage of the information all around you when you are alone. Whether its reading the news on paper or online or downloading a book on a E-reader and reading it all in one sitting.

If you have the right mindset being alone can transport you into a bliss...a realm only a few people get to in their lives. Like eating succulent chocolate strolling through the French Riviera at twilight. Almost unreal.
Doesn't that sound Yummy! Escape. you'll never be the same.I want to know.............
What do you do when you are alone?

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall.
VANITY
MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL, VANITY IS RISING
VANITY IS RISING
VANITY IS RISING
VANITY WILL FAIL
VANITY WILL FAIL
A

"How you have fallen from heaven,
O Morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
You said in your heart,
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High,
but you are brought down to the grave
to the depths of the pit.
Those who see you stare at you,
they ponder your fate:
Is this the man who shook the Earth?"
Isaiah 14
Vanity is all around us. It is in the music videos we watch, the video games we play and of course on our jobs even in our conservations so its hard not to feel the vein of vanity in us. We are all human fallen from grace and then saved by grace (Christ) but we still have faults, ulterior motives, a fantasy and drive for fame, recognition and adoration for those that have achieved it.
Self image is all around us. It's in the magazines we read, How to lose ten pounds and look your best ever! How to make that man sweat! Ten sizzling bikinis to heat up the summer. How tos, what nots and body enhancers the list goes on. Then we click on the TV and see our comparison mirrors. Celebrities. They sometimes provide an unhealthy self reflection. "I can look like her if I just had a better wardrobe. If I just lose ten pounds, if I was curvy, if I was slim, if I was taller, if I was tone. I can be famous like him but , I can train like him but...we sit there and compare ourselves as we idolize our culture's interpretation of beauty.
Don't get me wrong everyone likes to feel attractive, there is no harm in receiving compliments taking care of yourself, feeling and looking and doing your best. The sin is when you believe you are better than others. The death sentence is when we start to place value for things and attention above God. When we begin to believe our extraordinary talent , our attractiveness and remarkable abilities derives from us and not the one and true source of life.
That's when we have a problem. No matter how far we ascend in our careers, how many friendships and connections we make... we can feel like we are on top of the world just like the once gorgeous multi talented angel of music named Lucifer.
All who know his story know the ending to the tale of vanity, we know the fall is coming shortly after.. if we don't take our eyes off the mirror and place them on God. Self worship is what this world glorifies but true worshippers know "the ancient of days" can crumble the world with his mighty fist before our next breath, that's if he wanted to..
When you think of Lucifer you don't think of beauty beyond description you think of horns and a long tail, a creature of the night.
Lucifer was the most beautiful angel in heaven. He didn't play music. He was music! God delighted in his creation but his creation became a creature that lusted for his creator's throne so he planned to dethrone God!
And Failed! How can a creation rule over its creator? How can a creation think its value outweighs its creator? How can the creation think they created the creator? Ludicrous right? Well, its happening everyday. The heart of man denies his creator and worships himself. He believes and wants to be the center of attention when he should be centering his attention to the one who sits at the center of the universe.
We are not the centers of the universe that we think we are but only shadows that are passing through this planet. What purpose would we serve if we didn't worship God in this lifetime? We would be glorifying the angel of darkness not the angel of light. Our life would be in vain. So I don't know about you but when I look in the mirror I don't want to see flawed and imperfect Camille with her hangups and issues but the perfect, flawless, humble Christ that lives on the inside making her perfect in HIM.
To God be All the GLORY!
"The Cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives FOREVER..." 1John 2:16 &17

A Man on FIRE!
distinguished among ten thousand.
His head is the finest gold;
his locks are wavy,
black as a raven.

His eyes are like doves
beside streams of water bathed in milksitting beside a full pool.
His cheeks are like beds of spices,
mounds of sweet smelling herbs.
His lips are lilies,
dripping liquid myrrh

His arms are rods of gold
set with jewels.
His body is polished ivory
bedecked with sapphires.
His legs are alabaster columns
set on bases of gold. His appearance is like Lebanon
choice as the cedars.
His mouth is most sweet
and he is altogether desirable.
This is my beloved and this is my FRIEND.
Song of Solomon 5: 10-16
W.O.W. A godly man is the only man I desire!
So romantic. Simply my favorite poem/song in the Bible. It truly is a love story. Passion and devotion is on her tongue and in her heart. What I like about this scripture is that it is twofold. If you are single you can express this passion for Jesus and when you wed you express this love for your "sexy" husband. The bible is full of love, dripping with passion. God wants us to love with unbroken desire but to the one he built just for us (inside and out). This guy has to be cleansed and renewed with God's spirit to love you the way you deserve to be loved. The only way you get closer to meeting him is if you get to know more about the one who made him. Two loves for the price of one. Thank you Jesus. Truly Devoted.
Now he just has to find me ;)

A MAN TO MEET MY MOUNTAIN

A Man to Meet My Mountain
Among the valley of many
Here I stand
In the midnight muddy moss
Here I crawl
Through the dense uphill climb
Here I am
Among me there are beasts bold, brazen ready to take my life lest I fall
They creep they lurk hungry in the shadows
I pause in place unsure
There is a rushing wind
I trust and I know I’m not alone
Past the spiral turns, beyond the steep cliffs I find my courage
Through scorched skin and dusty air there is an upward tug
I feel secure, safe for travel
Prepared for the clouds ahead
I move forward to meet him
Sure enough he is there
Along the beaten path his arm reaches for mine
When darkness falls he pulls me up
He leads me with loving footsteps
Skin smoothed by his touch, his gentleness his devotion
With aching limbs I follow him up the mountain
With flowing wisdom from above he carries me
The mountain is sharp and rugged
We stumble, we crawl, we scratch, we fall
But never separate
Higher and Higher we ascend
Into the light of lights
Down in the dark valley old friends call
They beckon, they reach,
Accusations fly, stones soar…
Our mountain stands unscathed
We are still climbing
Bruised, battered bodies
But renewed, restored spirits arise
There is a longing to reach the top
There is a pinnacle of peace for the two of us,
So together we climb,
This man and I.
Alone, the peak is promised
United a universe beckons

WISDOM WEDNESDAY: LET US RULE SO WE CAN SERVE . LET US SERVE SO WE CAN RULE...
At the closing chapter of this lifetime Christians will rule the earth! However this generation has seen only a small percentage of believers at the top of the Forbes list. Why is that? Why are so many of us broke, then sufficient and then broke again? Why is monetary wealth so hard for a Christian to obtain? We must look at our hearts to find the source of the problem. Why do we want to rule for fame, acknowledgement, pride, to exclude, to gloat? All of these reasons are not of God. God wants us to rule so we can serve him and his people.
He wants us to not only have the heart of a servant but the influence and wisdom of a great ruler. He wants us to be wealthy and prosperous: mind, body, spirit as well as property: so that we can be generous to those who suffer without the faith (those rich and poor).
David says in Psalms 51 "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you..."

David was king of all Israel. He could do anything he wanted without having to face the consequences of his actions. He was the King! But King David was different from most kings he didn't rule with an iron fist but with an honest and pure heart. He served the one and true living God. He knew all favor and grace came from him. He asked God for forgiveness for his sins not so that he could just be guilt free but also so he could teach others. He wanted to be a good leader. A leader that was willing to a good example. He wanted to experience God's mercy so he could know what it felt like to be washed clean when he felt filthy and ragged. How could he relate to the unclean if he wasn't unclean himself? He wanted to experience God's love for only with God's love can we serve God's people. Only with God's anointing can we bless others. Only when we fallen from grace (all w/out the blood of Jesus) can we testify about God's redeeming blood. We have to experience the life of a servant in order to rule the way Jesus rules. Jesus was the ultimate servant, he became the sacrificial lamb so that now we can rule with him on earth and in heaven!
With God all things are possible and all things are made new in him. He is the only God that transforms filth into riches, that takes a mortal and makes him gloriously immortal. He is the only God that speaks, moves and creates as I write this he is speaking, moving and creating new wonders. So if you are confused, lost and abandoned you have the privilege of going to God like David, (a king with a servant's heart) he will hold nothing back from you. Why? because he loves you that much. He wants to give you more & more ...Once you have more you can give more. Once your self esteem is enlarged you can pour into someone else's self esteem. Once you have more money in your bank account you can pour wealth into someone else's bank account. Once you have wisdom you can pour wisdom into the heart and soul of another. Ruling is not about dominating it is about giving/serving. King David was able to bless the children of Israel because he gave his all to God. Go before God with an honest heart, ask him to renew you, to give you the wisdom of King Solomon, ask him to make you a mouthpiece for the Kingdom of Heaven so that when you serve you make an impact on not just a few but multitudes. All for the Glory of God.
